St Etienne Yéanzi was born in 1988 in Katiola, Ivory Coast. A graduate in painting and photography from the Lycée d'Enseignement Artistique de Cocody and the National School of Fine Arts in Abidjan, he graduated at the top of his class in 2012. Since then, Yéanzi has pursued a personal artistic practice that explores the fluidity and transformation of plastic materials. His work is gaining recognition on the international stage, with a distinctive focus on unsettling portraits.

Yéanzi's portraits often depict anonymous individuals whose faces appear to dissolve or blur, as if erased the moment they are seen. This technique reflects his deep engagement with the theme of identity within contemporary society. By emphasizing the impermanence of these images, Yéanzi encourages a reflection on the nature of self and the evolving ways in which we perceive and are perceived in today's world.
