Ruth Bessoudo Courvoisier, by her artist name Ruth Bess, was born in Hamburg, Germany on July 14, 1914.

They studied graphic arts at the School of Fine Arts of Hamburg, then, under the seizure of power by Adolf Hitler, was forced to go into exile in Copenhagen in Denmark and continued her studies there at the School of Drawing, Art and Art. 039;Industry. Then she enrolled in Paris, France at the Paul Colin school to specialize in poster design.

Meeting her future husband led her to the countries of Europe. #039;South America. It was in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil that she decided to learn the techniques of engraving at the engraving workshop of the Museum of Modern Art.

She won numerous prizes, notably at the engraving biennials of Santiago in Chile, Florence, Caracas and San Juan in Puerto Rico. Two personal exhibitions are organized to present his work: in 1972 at the Pan American Union Gallery in Washington D.C., in 1977 at the Estudio Actual gallery in Caracas, in 1990 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas.

His life ends in Paris, at the age of 100, on May 19, 2015.
