Alice and Ashanti, South Africa 2016.

I photographed singer and songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou in South Africa for the six page main feature of Rolling Stone Magazine Germany for their May 2016 issue. I could not believe my eyes when Ashanti, the elephant, without prompting leaned her head against Alice and created a picture that I could not have orchestrated even if I had dreamt of!

The photography spread was well-received and aptly the article about her opening for Rodriguez (aka Sugarman) last world tour was titled "Wild Life". I got numerous enquiries at the time for photo prints of the feature - finally here they are, long overdue and waiting to be out in the world and in your home.

The artwork comes to you in a tube as a Giclée pigment print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm archival paper. It a heavy weight fine art paper with a subtle gloss.

Romy Maxime, South African photographer, videographer and visual artist is known for her enigmatic portraits and fine art prints. She is based between Cape Town, South Africa and Zurich, Switzerland.

Her art book on women and the female gaze "Librations" can be seen under the project sections. She works both as an artist selling prints and NFTS, as well as on commissions (in colour) for fashion, look-books, editorials, portraits, lifestyle, advertising and beauty photography.
