Rhea Cutillo is a contemporary American artist whose work delves into the intricate relationship between humanity and the natural world, transcending both physical landscapes and the inner realms of the human psyche. Her artistic journey has taken her across the United States and around the globe, with notable exhibitions held at esteemed venues such as the Alexandria Museum of Art, Yellowstone Art Museum, and the renowned List í Ljósi festival, where her work garnered acclaim and recognition.

The impact of Rhea's art extends beyond gallery walls, as her creations have found their way into private collections spanning North America and the United Kingdom. Her artistry is characterized by a profound exploration of the interplay between humans and their environment, both in the tangible, ecological sense and in the abstract, cerebral realm.

Rhea's academic journey has been equally extensive and diverse. She earned her credentials from respected institutions, including the Barnes Foundation Museum's Barnes-de Mazia Program in Philadelphia, Mills College in Oakland, California, where she attained her B.A. in 2011, and her attendance at the Leroy E. Hoffberger Graduate School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Beyond her identity as an artist, Rhea Cutillo is a dedicated herbalist, with a deep-rooted appreciation for the natural world. Her studies at The School of Evolutionary Herbalism in Oregon and the East West School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in California have played a pivotal role in shaping her worldview. She carries with her a profound understanding of the principles of natural reciprocity and the pressing need for reconciliation between ecological and cultural perspectives.

Rhea's intellectual pursuits continue at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, where she has been recognized as a Dean's Merit Scholar. Her current projects underscore the importance of embodied knowledge in comprehending space and place, emphasizing the vital connection between humans and their environments.

Her art and scholarship are underpinned by a fundamental recognition that the disappearance of the biosphere is intertwined with the erosion of our cultural heritage and our communion with the land. In 2022, her work earned a place in the prestigious New American Paintings Magazine #138 and PXV Art Mag #5, showcasing the impact of her creative endeavors. In the spring of 2023, she is set to deliver lectures and exhibit with Philadelphia Water Works, shedding light on the profound implications of climate change—an endeavor that underscores her dedication to raising awareness and fostering dialogue about the pressing environmental challenges facing our world.
