SONGE FLORAL 5 (2018) Painting by Raymonde Meunier

I was born in 1948 in a small village in the Nièvre and discorered oil painting a the age of eight when a family of artists came to stay in the small family hotel in Gien in the Loiret department. It  was a real revelation ; the smell of  turpentine, painting with a knife etc. Then recently in the south of France where I now live, it was the shock of the discovery of "la tempera" with Gérald DAREAU who collaborated for 15 years with Ernst FUCHS (creator of the vienna SCHOOL : fantastic surrealism) and the realization finally possible of transparent, unpublished floral compositions.Above all, the joy of painting : to create a parenthesis of a few moments by going along complex lines, curves, transparent and sophisticated colors, to make a visual, virtual journey which would bring a moment of serenity, calm, plenitude in the heart of the plant worlda hymn to nature, light and colors of the French Riviera. Other inspirations related to the many journeys gave rise to creations using the same technique : architecture, the fascinating characters of INDIA, the ARGENTINIAN TANGO in BUENOS AIRES etc.Miraculously, the time that passes for e painter can become exhilarating. A subtle and global symbiosis b etween colors and forms can be the object of e more and more demanding, even bosessive pmath. The works then become a  constant experitmental field until an outcome that seems certAIN; This is how paintings are reborn with enthusiasm. This site contains only ten paintings and obviously represents only one facet of my work : about 80 paintings have been made and I will try to show some of the latest creations later.
