English : The Flight and Fall of Icarus” (based on Ovid’s story).
What is captivating in the story of the flight and fall of Icarus is not so much his tragic fate, his plunge into the void and his drowning in the sea which today bears his name, as his tutelage by his father Daedalus who had this ingenious idea of taking to the air to escape with his son from the infallible labyrinth that he himself had designed and built. Daedalus taught his son to fly and revealed to him the only way to save his life. Since Antiquity, the heavens have appeared as a metaphor for the path to self-fulfilment, happiness and purification of the soul (ataraxia). In a certain way, this story imagined by Ovid finds its echo in Christianity with the path to salvation proclaimed by Jesus, but also in Judaism with the obligation of the Jewish people to live in full agreement with the divine will, and in Islam with the search for salvation as the ultimate goal to be achieved in the love and forgiveness of God. But, if the story of Icarus teaches us the path to happiness and perfect balance, if it indicates to us the path to deliverance and liberation of humanity, it also teaches us how the possibility of this revelation cannot happen without the paternal recommendations of observing the strictest prudence. With this painting, I wanted to approach its evocative power by addressing in my own way the themes that are part of my work as an artist, namely the quest for happiness, the concern for the meaning of life and the search for the sacred path that leads to what each person desires deep within themselves. With my interpretation of the story of Icarus, I wanted to show the importance and urgency of the question of the spiritual in life and in art, as a prerequisite for a happy and successful life.

Question de puissance artistique !
