Lupins are visible almost everywhere along roads, near waterfalls and lakes in Iceland. The Nootka lupine which grows in Iceland is not native to the country as it was imported from North America in 1945 to combat topsoil loss. The lupine has a tendency to create monocultures which both prevent other plants from growing and can suffocate more delicate flora. The lupine belongs to the pea family and was introduced to Iceland in order to fight land erosion and to enhance soil fertility. The plant is able to fix atmospheric nitrogen into organic one by using specialized bacteria from their roots.

I am a mature Edinburgh based artist from Iceland and I studied at the Edinburgh College of Art.

Pola.B.Alex is an abbreviation of my names.

I have exhibited my paintings at the gallery “Smíðar og Skart” and Alþjóđahús in Reykjavik, Iceland; Marchmont Gallery and Edinburgh Gallery in Edinburgh. My paintings are held in private collections in Iceland, the UK, Denmark, Germany the USA and Canada. Oil is my preferred medium. The artworks I create are result of contemplation and careful study of nature. The process of painting to me is an attempt to capture the fleeting moments of harmony in the world around me. I am often inspired by the classic music, mostly Chopin.

I am also the author of "Lisa and Elzbieta" and "Don't tell me I am beautiful" but this is from another opera.
