Philippe Rude is a contemporary French artist. He devoted himself to ceramics, a world of earth and fire in which he could express his imagination with power, depth, and complexity. The artist, according to his encounters and his imaginary journeys, will discover by the baptism of fire the work of copper oxide and smoking. Amazed by the iridescent colors caused by the incidence of light, this technique magnifies its sensitivity and echoes this childish and ephemeral emotion of the rainbow.
His "CUBE" collection became the standard for a series of variations: wood, resin, ceramic and even jewel in the form of a signet ring, a kind of identity signature. The artist also deploys this crushed cube to make his "Vanity" or even a chronological totem with variations of colors and materials symbolizing space-time and entitled "From Peace to Peace". This shape of "crushing" the cube returns subtly in many sculptures.
