Cycle includes abstract drawings and paintings, formed from a multitude of different techniques and material, made on canvas, mixed media (acrylic, gouache, pencils, ballpoint pen and markers). Also I use collages with stickers, pizza boxes, flyers and pages from magazines.
The idea of cycle briefly is a kind of ironic resurrection of good old items of eighties of previous century - picture that bares name of a famous band or artist which could be hung on a wall
With an approach that is both provocative and probing, I constantly seeks to challenge the traditions of art, frequently using satire to parody the inbuilt hierarchies of artistic customs.

About artist’s signature in this cycle (Swansong or Mikha Benks):

Melo-maniacs of a specific sort know that surname Swansong contains obvious contaminations - Swans were my obsession for a long time, I made many posters dedicated to their albums and songs. Than there is a beautiful track Sing Swan Song in a fabulous record Ege Bamyasi of divine band Can – so I sort of “sang” that “song for rather a time - but lately changed my aka and chose Mikha Benks - that refers a bit ironically to when i was eight and leaded a role of Michael Banks in than soviet movie Mary Poppins Is Back

Philipp Rukavishnikov is a contemporary Russian artist and a member of the Russian Academy of Art. He graduated in 1996 from the Moscow State Art College after V.I. Surikov, studying in O.K. Komov’s studio. His degree work, titled Nabokov, marked the beginning of his professional journey. As the sixth generation in a dynasty of artists, Rukavishnikov continues to contribute to the family legacy through his diverse artistic endeavors.

Rukavishnikov's work spans multiple cycles of sculpture, graphic art, and painting. His Teapots cycle, consisting of 20 sculptures, began as an exploration of sketches for a "Magritte"-themed tea set, balancing whimsy with functionality. The sculptures playfully transform everyday objects into art pieces.

In his 2000 Year of War cycle, Rukavishnikov created 30 sculptures depicting warriors' heads from various eras, from Roman gladiators and sleek American marines to Red Army volunteers and Maori warriors. These sculptures reflect the complexities and timelessness of human conflict.

Rukavishnikov's Posters graphic cycle includes around 2,000 hand-painted artworks, featuring mixed media such as acrylic, gouache, pencils, and markers on large sheets of paper. This series nostalgically revives the style of 1980s band posters with an ironic twist. His Pre-Posters painting cycle consists of about 30 canvas works in various sizes, continuing his playful commentary on popular culture.
