Patricia Grenier is a contemporary French sculptor who has been captivated by animals since childhood. Over twenty years ago, after extensive training in various ceramic techniques and several years of clay modeling, she made sculpture her profession. Grenier’s work is rooted in meticulous anatomical observation and research, aiming to bring her earthen animal sculptures to life.
Her chosen medium, ceramic sculpture, offers vast possibilities, and she specializes in the "raku" firing technique, a Japanese method symbolizing happiness and fullness. The process involves plunging a piece heated to 1000°C into sawdust, revealing unpredictable yet rich textures and effects in the final result. Recently, Grenier expanded her repertoire to include female faces and busts, crafted with serene expressions and the distinctive cracks of raku.
Through her creations, she seeks to evoke a deep connection with nature and to inspire reflection on the beauty and fragility of the creatures around us.
