Oxana Luky
Here, the material and the immaterial intertwine, transforming the portrait into a space of meanings.
The human face is an infinite universe woven from lines, textures, and the subtlest shades of color.
It lives, changes, and reflects the inner world, hiding entire stories in its curves and shadows, in fleeting wrinkles.
With every new portrait, I strive to capture not just appearance but something elusive—the breath of the soul, its light and shadow, its vibrations between joy and sorrow, anxiety and calm, happiness and nostalgia.
It is a constant pendulum.
Each new portrait is not merely a depiction of another person; it is a mirror in which I, too, am reflected.
My works are journeys into the depths of personality, where reality meets subjective perception, form intertwines with emotion, and the artist engages with his inner world.
It is always a dialogue—not only with the subject but also with the viewer, who, looking into the image, inevitably discovers a part of themselves within it.
What fascinates me in portraiture is its paradoxical nature: it captures a fleeting moment yet reveals the eternity of human essence.
The gaze on the canvas remains unchanged, yet every viewer brings their own story, their own experience, their own understanding.
The life of a portrait exists in this endless interweaving of meanings, emotions, and perspectives.
It is not just an image; it is an act of presence, a way to grasp the ephemeral, to hold a moment, and to convey something beyond form.
It is the search for human essence, frozen in color and light.

A children's portrait for me is not about the image of the "child" as a symbol of purity or an ideal. [...]
A children's portrait for me is not about the image of the "child" as a symbol of purity or an ideal. It is a space for encountering fragility. It is an attempt to look into the state where a person has not yet learned to hide.
I am interested in the emotional vulnerability of the child — the fear of the future, the defenselessness before the adult rules of the world, the openness to the unknown.
I view the portrait not as a fixation of an external image, but as a visual fixation of an inner state — confusion, loneliness, expectation.
In my work, the child's body is not just a physical form, but an image of their internal instability, fragility, dependence on others' decisions.
A children's portrait is a mirror of a troubled present and a question of the future, which is shaped beyond the child's control.
In the child's face, I see a space of pain and expectation. Not the open joy that adults are used to seeking, but a subtle anxiety about tomorrow. The worry that no one asks them: how would they like to see their future?
I return to the children's portrait as an attempt to carefully capture a moment of fragility. That which is often hidden or "beautified."
I am concerned with how the child looks at the world — with trust, but already with a sense of loss to come. How their body still doesn't know how to protect itself. How their emotions sound too loudly inside, even though they may remain silent on the outside.
Each of my portraits is a conversation with this state. It is my confession of vulnerability. It is my fear for them. And my hope that they will be seen — as they truly are.

The phrase cacophony of body movement creates an image of chaotic, disordered, and fragmented motions that lack harmony and fluidity. It can describe erratic gestures, abrupt and unsynchronized movements, resembling chaos or turmoil.
But within every chaos, there is an element of order—those moments of sudden stillness, the instants in between, the moments before and after. This is what I explore in this series of graphics.

My attempt to capture the nerve of modernity by showing portraits of modern people in different roles and with different emotions. The works are done in monochrome, again metaphorically and in the style of black and white cinema, where the meaning of this idea is that there is no only black or only white, they constantly replace each other ....
Observation in silence, when portraits speak to the viewer through the eyes and body position. And in these eyes you can read either joy, or sadness, or anger, or tenderness, or love, or hatred.

I was inspired to create this collection by the beauty of the surrounding nature, flowers and plants. Here I present my vision of the form, color and grace of plants, through the transformation of watercolor, its ability to change color rendering, thanks to which unique shapes and color solutions appear.
