Oto Macek
Oto Macek is a contemporary Czech artist. Macek's paintings form the cornerstone of his artistic expression, and what sets them apart is the innovative use of cement as the foundational medium. His creative process involves layering relief elements upon this cement canvas, carefully constructing compositions that seamlessly merge the realms of imagination and reality. Once the structure is meticulously crafted, Macek brings his paintings to life through the application of oil and acrylic paints, infusing vibrant colors that captivate the viewer's senses. The final touch comes with a lacquer finish, adding a layer of depth and permanence to each masterpiece.
In addition to his prowess in painting, Macek's foray into glasswork is equally noteworthy. His preference lies in crafting glass sculptures using studio glass, with a particular fondness for materials such as uranium and lead glass. The process begins with the meticulous modeling of the object in clay, followed by the transformation of its form into plaster. The true magic happens in the glass furnace, where the object is melted into existence. Subsequent phases involve the careful grinding and polishing of the glass, resulting in sculptures that evoke a harmonious blend of contemporary and historical architectural influences.
Macek's sculptures, echoing the spirit of various architectural styles, serve as testaments to his keen observation of both past and present. The global appeal of his artwork is evident in the widespread recognition and acquisition by private collectors around the world, with a notable presence in the United States, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, England, Japan, Italy, Austria, and, of course, his native Czech Republic.
The impact of Oto Macek's artistic contributions extends beyond private collections, as his works find a home in prestigious institutions such as the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec and the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague. These collections stand as a testament to Macek's enduring influence on the art world and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity in both painting and glass sculpture.

Defining solid shapes on the surface of the canvas, can be formed by architecture, detail of wall surfaces and plaster in time, but also by the vast space of the landscape, the sea. Which can be an illusion of the inner world, but also of the outer one. An abstraction that may not be a reality.

"Painting is a joy and a special astonishment that can be festive"
I admire the illusion of space in painting and the canvas surface, I love the surfaces. In addition to the relief painting, airbrush was also used. Individual elements on the canvas form various overlaps between them spatial illusion, we can imagine our own vision. I don't give names to paintings. I would like to give the viewer space for his own imagination. In recent years, the most popular theme for me is geometric abstraction building on architecture, landscape. And just abstraction. I perceive color as meditative light energy. Which permeates
through paste painting, in the composition of linear and abstract elements in the contrast of essential stillness and the dynamics of endless movement. Paintings can create space for introspection and become an oasis of calm for your home.

the atmosphere encourages introspection and evokes energy in space and time. For me, the preview of light and shadow in a drawing is an inspiring and meditative creation, where the handwriting of graphite creates structures that complete the velvety feel of the work. Drawings can be present for your space with their calm energy.

Oto Macek beauty views 1994
the exhibited objects made by gluing and grinding from plate glass were exhibited in the National Technical Museum in 1994.
They were my work to complete my studies at UMPRUM. These are painterly objects with which I created the given face inside the objects
the atmosphere in which I painted the illusion of the reflective together with the real. Thematically, the objects could be installed in any
space, but here I was concerned with painting the architecture of the museum building and the industrial details of the exhibits.
