MÜGE OLÇUM
Müge Olçum was born on 28/o8/1970 in samsun in Turkey.She completed her pre-university education in İzmir. İn 1989 she began the sculpture education in 9 EYLUL UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS FACULTY. İn 1993 she greduated from this section.License thesis was about ''HAPPENING''. İn 1995 she was working in the restoration of a historic clock tower.She was working about completion of missing stone, repair of building stone and she was working about historic building too.İn laters years she was made square statues for some municipalities of İzmir. Subjects of sculpture are Fishermen,ancient statue of CYBELE BOAT, seals,busts of philosophers,animals,and historic themed sculptures.She continued painting studies at the same time throughout the years.She opened her first exhibition in 1995.The next exhibition was opened in 1999.She will continues to freelance work in painting and sculpture workshop in İzmir. According to her, life itself is a work of art.Everyting should be made as art made. Otherwise they will be confined to only art gallery.The artist uses mixed media on painting and she uses gouache, acrylic,felt tip pen, powder paint,ink,dry and oil pastel.She usually prefer to paint on cardboard and paper.But also she uses canvas and wood.Her biggest interest is book illustration.İn the coming months, the book will be published by her paintings.
