Nilda Raw is a Brazilian painter who has recently emerged in international artistic circles and is currently preparing the virtual opening of her most recent and most praised works.
Raw, a self-taught artist, brings together in her works elements of the geometro-cubist heritage with figurative art, printing, as a final result, beautiful images of surrealist inspiration and cultural symbolism.
Beneath very expressive faces and eyes, the female figures reveal themselves and take turns in penetrating movements that invite the viewer to appreciate.
In them, we can easily be co-opted by the beauty, but also and above all by the intriguing compositions, where the colors (in supports such as canvas and paper) acquire an unmistakable luminosity of their own.
Almost always present are the predominantly female faces, which, according to Nilda, “appear in the images, like premonitions, even before the initial sketch is planned” , shine as axes of their creative process.

Nilda Raw shows in her works the practical functioning of the stream of consciousness in fine art. And even if certain effects of her technique can be described as naive, never primitive, she demonstrates, with her creativity and her chromatic intuition, important alliances with contemporaneity.
And these alliances are so powerful that they circumvent easily all formalist requests.
A painter who will still be celebrated - and commented on.
