Nato nel 1947, ha frequentato l'Istituto Statale d'Arte e l'AA.BB. di Catania partecipando a diverse manifestazioni artistiche a Catania e in numerosi paesi Etnei. Sue Opere si trovano nella Pinacoteca del Museo Regionale "Castello Normanno" di Adrano. Il suo nome è stato più volte citato in quotidiani e riviste d'arte: La Sicilia, Il Giornale di Sicilia, La Nazione, La Notte, Il Giornale d'Abruzzo, La Stanza Letteraria, L'Ora, Il Gazzettino di Giarre, Catania Oggi. Hanno scritto di lui, tra gli altri, Antonio Corsaro, Mario Grasso, Vito Librando, Anna Magrì, Tea Ranno, Nunzio Sciavarrello, Francesco Scialfa, Salvatore Latora.
Nicolò Montalto ha esperienze varie in campo artistico: ha aperto nel 1975 il Centro di Arte Terapia a Catania; è stato direttore artistico dell'Accademia d'Arte Sperimentale; ha firmato le scene del Pistacchio d'oro di Bronte, una personale Arte Musica da Camera con il Violista Maestro Giuseppe Scofik, una personale al Centro di danza Classica con il primo ballerino del "Balletto del XX Secolo di Maurice Bejar" Antonio Rodriquez Cano, una personale per il Gran Prix di Tennis cat. C al "Tennis Club Umberto" di Catania, 31° Edizione Premio Speciale "Giara d'argento" per meriti Artistici, è stato presente con una sua opera al Museo Diocesano di Catania in occasione della stagione concertistica 2011, 2016 collettiva per anniversario di Pirandello. Ha insegnato all'Istituto Statale d'Arte di Catania "Disegno di Architettura e Arredamento con la direzione dei relativi laboratori.
