Eager to continue his doodles of yesteryear, Nicolas turned to the Plastic Arts option at the High School. This allowed him to define the framework of his reflections through significant encounters and to discover charcoal, a real revolution in his graphic career. After some hesitation, Nicolas finally turned towards a non-artistic path, keeping drawing as a hobby.
A few years later, Nicolas reconnected with pencils and immersed himself in it. completely. First with several personal works, he then decided to open his work to others and since 2023 has offered all kinds of commissions, combining photography with the practice of Photoshop to create a tailor-made drawing.
Completely self-taught in method and instruction, Nicolas uses graphite and charcoal as an introspection and an outlet. By reducing the image to light and shadow, it removes any color distractions. By playing on these plays of light, his works take on a timeless dimension.
Fighting against stereotypes: black "it's sad", black " it's depressive, Nicolas wants to highlight the black and dark side in order to show its presence, its peremptory existence, to exacerbate the details and the subtleties and to give its letters of nobility to the quote from Jean -Paul Sartre: "The brighter the light, the darker the darkness... It is impossible to correctly appreciate the light without knowing the darkness."
Welcome to his universe.
