Nik Mimms is both an artist and educator with a practice spanning over forty years in which he maintains a constant fascination and connection with the natural and urban world around him.
He expresses his artistic vision through three distinct mediums: oil paint, ink, and pencil drawing. Each medium provides a unique avenue for exploring and interpreting scenes found in both the natural and built environment. The rich, textured quality of oil paint, the fluidity of ink, and the precision of pencil serve as tools of inspiration.
These mediums enable him to create a visual dialogue between both environments. Through the interplay of mediums, he aims to convey not just what he sees, but also the unseen and his art acts as a bridge between the tangible and intangible, inviting the viewer to join him in a contemplative exploration of the world's diverse textures and narratives.
