With constant motion and impression intensity, we experience overwhelm in the search for a tangible means of self-expression.
Complexity and lack of clarity leads to an experience of separation, loneliness, and a yearning to connect to something. Someone. While at the same time to separate and be distinguishable, differentiated. We are held captive by a state of unrest, but in the end, beauty will save the world

Natalia Rose - Abstract Artist

Colorful lines and long lines of text: These are just a few of the subjects that populate Natalia Rose's canvases, which examine identity and the exoticization of the other. The Russian-born artist, who is living and working in Denmark, draws from historical and cultural imagery to create a visual map of her identity—one that mingles Eastern and Western beauty ideals and mythologies. Tensions between the varying cultures emerge in the juxtaposition of the Danish and Russian realities, as well as in the celebration and antagonization of the Eastern and Western beauty ideas and cartoons, respectively.

Rose's primary interest is in pictorial phenomena: the illusion of a three-dimensional space, composition, and the optical effects of color. “It is not the form that dictates color, but the color that brings out the form,” the famous American painter Hans Hofmann said in the 1950s. Her paintings pursue the exploration og the relativity of color, developing technique by which warm and cool colors interact to produce effects of movement, space and depth.
Natalia Rose finds it boring, when painting seems to be all too well planned.
She also likes to refer to the words of Philip Guston: "I mean there is a forgotten place of being and things, which I need to remember. I want to see this place. I paint, what I want to see."
