This is a freehand geometric artwork, made with ink and watercolour on paper Canson C.A. Grain, 180 g/m2.
The original is not available, and the hi-rez prints are available by the Artmajeur printing service.

This is an artwork from the series "Shapes". It refers to the shape of a circle, while the circle is seen not only as a geometric shape but as a shape in transformation. This is a transition from a simple static shape to geometric dynamics. On the one hand, it is a reference to such natural forms as the sun, gaze, eye, circles on the water, etc., on the other, it is a filling the circle itself with other forms, geometric and architectural, creating an infinite number of «shapes inside the shape». The artwork is characterized by small details and thoroughness. All my artworks are made without any preliminary sketching. The variability of painting details, colour choices, and themes is «not planned». My painting process is consciously made «unconscious», without reference to the classical painting canons, standards of colours schedule or composition, which I often deliberately ignore. The artworks from this series, on the one hand, are similar by their shapes, on the other hand, they differ in their content, demonstrating the numerous, almost endless variability of shapes and colour tones, leaving everyone free to see something new inside the usual shapes.

My name is Giorgi Gokhelashvili, I'm from Georgia. I graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Art (1991-1997) as an architect-artist. Along with my architectural activity for the next 20 years in Georgia and other countries, I did not abandon drawing and painting, creating works in those artistic directions that I was interested in studying and developing. Since 2018 I completely retired from the architectural activity and I have been devoting all my time and energy to painting & drawing, creating my artworks as MZERART.

Today I live and work in Georgia.

I work in a mixed technique, using both graphic and fine art methods. My main mediums are ink and watercolour on paper.

I develop two main creative directions:

The first is focused on black and coloured graphic drawings and watercolours with the abstract geometrical subject. I draw freehand without any preliminary sketching. My painting is unprocessed, I consciously made it «unconscious» in order to free myself and to avoid the works being «the hostages» of the classic painting canons, standards of colours balance and composition, which are often deliberately «ignored» in my works. I mix shapes and colours to go beyond them and see something new and I offer a viewer the possibility to immerse deep in and watch what is happening.

The second direction is dedicated to the miniature quick sketches of small residential houses. These works are made with watercolour and ink pens. Although among the compositions there are also images of modern buildings, I think that exactly these traditional architectural forms are the signs of usual life and comfort in the modern world. Now we do not know in which houses and spaces a person will live in the future, but these symbols of home, in my observation, have a positive effect on the audience, personifying family, tranquillity and stability of the traditional way of life of people up to the present time.

Painting is my way of life and an opportunity to study the interweaving of natural, man-made and artistic forms, and symbols, as well as their embodiment in objects and integration into the human environment.

Thank you for visiting my page and for your interest in my work.
