Originally from Marseille, born in 1967, Michael Edery inherited a joie de vivre and a spirit of freedom from this multicultural city. From a very young age, he had a taste for painting, he made his first drawings at the age of 4 with innate maturity and precision.
Self-taught, he is a contemporary artist with his avant-garde style, he shakes up the boundaries between fantasy and modernity. His talent is recognized, Michael Edery becomes an emerging artist of the new Marseille, an effervescent city where evolving culture takes a prominent place in the eyes of a local and international population that is increasingly in demand.
He explains that he does not obey any rules, any systems. He says he has no pretensions, loves uncertainty, risk, madness, and this is how, for him, the canvas takes on its full meaning.
Seduced by the #039;abstract, artist has also always had an attraction to faces, another major aspect of his work. He is fascinated by these expressions which, according to him, are a reflection of each person’s personality.
A true synergy between creativity and impertinence gives an aesthetic, emotional and moral dimension to his works. The characters come to life through the paintings, with an attitude, a face, a smile, punctuated by words, slogans, and sentences.
"Don& #039;t take life too seriously" is his leitmotif...
His paintings have traveled to Paris, Sao Paulo, Tel Aviv, and New York.
