Milanda De Mont

Established Australian abstract artist Milanda de Mont (Gregorian) is a passionate artist with a lifelong artistic commitment. With over 30 years of professional career she has been represented by galleries and museums. She has held extensive solo and group exhibitions, has collaborated nationally and internationally in various Art Expos & Fairs. Her paintings are in a number of collections in Australia, the US and EU.    

De Mont is always searching for that individual voice and quality that makes her abstraction to be differ with a strong artistic language. Her selection and use of colour is of outmost important in her works, selected with intellectuality, although she also has created works in black and white. Her artworks created in diverse compositions are set in fluid and flowing colours, yet keeping the consistency as a style of her unique artistic language. She has been published in variety of publications internationally, with reviews by critics on her works. 

The painting of Milanda De Mont comes as synaesthesia, as a mastery of the expressive code that drowns the limits of space and overlapping combinations of colour and body, vision and artistic gesture. The work of the artist plays with the dimensions of the plans and pulses in an attempt to contain the totality of the vital space.

Artist Statement: ’Life and art are inseparable; hence art is the transmission of the state of our being. My work reflects tension between forces of stillness and quickness, in which, I view the world, a mystical experience that imparts a sense of unity within its creative process. As art is not limited by reason, so is the abstraction, a pure art form and ideology without restrictions. The predominant direction of my art compels out of its own individual need, with its unique dialogue. In the psyche of self-conscious, self-expression, lifetime experiences become possible to disclose their function, nourished by instinct; living imageries explode beyond their limitations ’.
