Mevan Fonseka is a Sri Lankan artist who had his first painting exhibition at the Lionel Wendt Gallery in Colombo in December 2016. His skills in painting which was already in an advanced stage during his school days was further developed through his professional career as an Art director, Studio Manager in several Leading advertising firms.

Mevan started his painting career as a Stamp Designer in Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Postal and has designed over 100 stamps till date. His first stamp design in 2004 was the commemoration stamp of the International Day of Peace. Tsunami commemoration stamp in 2005, Asian Games commemoration stamp in 2006, Buddha Jayanthi stamp series of 2550 and expressway stamp in 2013 are among his notable designs. He follows naturalism and the major themes of human activities, landscapes and historic monuments of the country as his preferred genres. His ever impressive collection includes works done in several mediums of painting, Watercolour, Oil on Canvas, Acrylic on Canvas, Soft Pastel, Line Drawing as well as Pencil Drawings.
