Marko Jezernik
1950 Place of birth: Celje, Slovenia
1963 – 1976 I have started with activities on art topics already in grammar school, when I have sculptured my first sculptures in wood and metal. During my years of study I have started to draw and paint. In the year 1980 I have moved to Šentjur where I actually begin to be creative.
1980 – 1984 For 4 years I became a regular guest in the studio of a painter Goce Kalajdžiski, who showed me and skilled me in a different painting and sculpturing technics. I became familiar with technic of watercolour, which I am using at most and I am still developing it. In the time of my presence in a studio of my mentor, I have prepared also my first exhibitions.
Among the important exhibitions I want to mention following:
1988 Smelt Ljubljana, Slovenija
1992 » Le Faux Miroir« Art Gallery, Grand Sablon-Brussels, Belgium / invitation of the galleriest mister Marc Pleitinx /
1993 Paviljon NOB Tržič- Museum of Contemporary History Tržič, Slovenia;

1998 Avditorij Portorož, Slovenia – unique art glass
1995- 1998 During the time I was employed in a glass firm Steklar in Celje I have an opportunity to be acquainted with the modeling of glass / fused glass /. In the glass studio of Ciril Zobec in 1997 in Rogaška Slatina I have the chance to meet for the first time with the tecnic of glass fusing. From that moment on I have started to express my ideas also in glass.
1998 I made a decision to start being active only on the field of art. In the summer I have started to work in Portorož, Slovenia.

Years ago, I think it was in 1992 or 1993, I have been several times in the Austrian Bärnbach with my friend Aleš Stopar, who works in THE CELJE REGIONAL MUSEUM (PMC). We have been visiting glass exhibitions in the Glass Museum, which is still leaded by Mr. Hans Martin Hittaller. On one of the first exhibitions, Aleš introduced me to Zvonka Požun, who came from Celje to Bärnbach and remain there to this day. The next meeting with Zvonka was in Piran in 2012.
On Sunday, 16 September 2012, at 19th hours, the 19th Congress of the International Association for the History of Glass (AIHV) started, with occasional exhibition in Trevisini Palace, Piran. The title of exhibition was Glass Impression, where Art glass works of two Slovene artists, Zvonka Požun and Marko Jezernik were presented. Visitors of exhibition were welcomed by dr. Irena Lazar, who also presented bouth artists. The exhibition was officialy opened by the Mayor of Piran mr. Peter Bossman.
Saatchi Online Showdown – Abstract – Second Round - April 2012
Saatchi Online Showdown
What is Showdown?
Welcome to Showdown, an online competition where artists can showcase their work and go head-to-head with other artists, giving the winner a chance to display their art at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
Press release
Dear Marko,
This morning, as the Showdown competition was transforming from the First round to the Second round, there was a technical glitch and only “Community votes” progressed when in fact “Community” AND “Saatchi Online” selections were to have progressed together.
Your work had been hand-selected by our Saatchi Online team to move on to the Second round. We are contacting you to inform you that you have in fact progressed to the Second round of the Saatchi Online Showdown competition despite the earlier email you received from us.
Over the past year, we’ve been working to evolve Showdown so that it reflects the needs and desires of our artists. After a great deal of feedback, we agreed that it was best to have first round voting reflect BOTH community votes as well as the Saatchi Online professional staff.
We are consistently trying to improve the way Saatchi Online functions and it was extremely important for us to rectify this situation.
We are deeply sorry for the confusion this caused. Congratulations on moving on to the Second round.
Sincerely,
Margo Spiritus
