Birth of Spectrism

With a writing that is also a face-to-face with reality, Marc-Antoine CONRAD continues his exploration of darkness, of abysses. A sign of incarnation that desires itself without veil or unveiled: naked and tormented. The armor is not the garment but the muscle in its beauty of taut and vibrant leather, almost bursting. Thoughts and emotions are the threads of the artistic dough: everything must testify, in an essential and abrupt sense, to a universal, radical matter and an irregular individuality that unfolds there.

Abattement questions the morbid conscience from within, with the force of that which abandons all complacency and lets destiny, this unconscious and determining intention, in this tragic sense, guide art. CONRAD's singularity, in touching the nerve, the heart and the contemporaneity, moves from work to work. Here: in the solitude of our virtual world where emails and videoconferences lock man, claustrophobic and frightened, in so many inseparable individual cells, the artist bares himself to better meet us: to better meet himself?

The circle signifies unity, wholeness, enlightenment, the cycle of life and rebirth, the wheel of life, and in many religious traditions, the all-seeing and all-knowing eye.

 The circle is the most widespread symbol, and has universal meaning. It is one of the first shapes traced by humans. It has no beginning or end, making it a universal symbol of eternity, perfection, divinity, infinity, ... It represents the cycles of the natural world. A sign of unity, the circle is the preferred shape for equality, as illustrated by the example of King Arthur's Round Table.

 The circle, probably the most significant of shapes, is present everywhere in nature, while the square is a human invention. The circle represents the union of the earthly and the divine. The circled cross, present in many religious paintings, is considered an example of the squaring of the circle.

Carl Jung believed that the circle symbolizes the processes of nature, the cosmos, and the cycles of the universe, while the square represents the universe as man conceives and plans it.

At marriage, the wedding ring, a symbol of lasting love, is placed on the finger associated with the heart.
