Magda Malkoun is a contemporary, multi-faceted Lebanese artist. Being exposed to varying cultures and art styles throughout her long journey away from home, she uses different types of material and texture not only as tools to paint with, but also to create forms. Malkoun’s body of work encompasses a series of figurative and abstract art inspired by the conflicts and the bonds one creates with the places, events and faces encountered while in displacement. Her contemporary work is recognizable with her signature style of painstakingly organized photo collages to form various abstract portraits.

She recently exhibited her work in the UAE at Art Dubai 2022, BULGARI Contemporary Art Award at Van de Goudenberg Art Gallery, Dubai Culture x Morrow Collective’s first NFT exhibition in Al Safa Art & Design Library, Gateway to the Metaverse in House of Wisdom Sharjah,  Al Futtaim Festival of Arts in Festival City and in 2021at Ajman Al Murabbaa Art Festival. She was selected to represent Lebanon at the UNESCO Art Camp Andorra to promote peace and sustainability held at Ajman University in March 2022.

Malkoun won the Best Emerging artist award in Word Art Dubai 2021 amongst 250 exhibiting artists from across the globe. Her work has been featured in a number of magazines like Elle Decoration, Gallery Magazine, Laha Magazine, Marie-Claire Arabia, Tribe magazine and Harper’s Bazaar Brazil.

Magda Malkoun was born in 1982, in Lebanon. Her works are in private collections in Beirut, Dubai, Ajman, Saudi Arabia and France. Her work is also shown in Ajman Museum as part of their permanent collection. Magda Malkoun lives and works between Dubai and Beirut.
