Madelon De Keizer is a contemporary Dutch artist and historian, known for her dual expertise in visual arts and historical research. From 1997 to 2002, she studied at the Wackers Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, where she trained as a figurative visual artist. She continued her artistic education in the United States from 2005 to 2006, studying at the Boston Museum School of Arts under Amy Wynne and at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education with Barbara Baum.
De Keizer's work explores changing forms in relation to color, perspective, expression, and storytelling—key elements in both her art and historical research. She holds a PhD in history and has published extensively on World War II and the cultural history of the Netherlands in the early 20th century.
After graduating from the Wackers Academy, De Keizer regularly exhibited her work, particularly through the Amsterdam artists' group Meer-kunst, where she served as chair and secretary from 2008 to 2018. In 2020, Meer-kunst was disbanded, and in 2022, she joined the prestigious Amsterdam artist group Sint Lucas. A year later, she became a member of Amstelland Kunst (VAK), exhibiting frequently at DeNieuweGalerie in Amstelveen and showcasing her recent work online on the kunst-RUIM website.
Initially focusing exclusively on figurative art, De Keizer began to embrace abstraction in 2015. Her abstract works are characterized by continuous experimentation with form, composition, color, tension, and depth. She works with various media, including acrylics, oils, ink, and watercolor, on a range of surfaces like canvas, paper, and dibond.
