Luiz Carlos de Andrade Lima
Curitiba, 1933*1998)

Andrade Lima's work comes from the work of a personality who fought for his points of view, mainly by remaining faithful to the figurative, in a time of so many fads.
Andrade Lima had his first contact with painting around the age of eight. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and a degree at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. He stood out as an expressionist figurative artist, a movement that he would never abandon.

He painted the most diverse themes, with emphasis on religious and social themes.
They are figures of the people, simple people from the streets and squares, figures of Christ, Saint Francis, bars and women of the night, all always in harmonious coexistence.
He was a painter, teacher, designer, engraver, sculptor, illustrator and poet, always seeking to capture the soul of his city.

Author of the "Via Sacra" of the Third Order of Saint Francis of the Wounds, in Curitiba, with fifteen paintings, the last of which, representing the Resurrection of Christ, is missing.
In 1980, he founded the "Andrade Lima Gallery and School of Art", which has taught hundreds of students. Throughout his career, Andrade Lima won numerous awards and held more than 20 solo exhibitions, always showing new works, with a brilliant trajectory in Brazilian art.

In 1993, he was awarded the "City of Curitiba 300 Years – Best Painter" Prize and, the following year, he was honored by the State Government as "Meritorious Citizen of Paraná", in recognition of his work as an artist and master, recognized today, but which posterity will praise as one of the most important artists that Paraná has produced for Humanity.
In 2013, he received a Posthumous Tribute, having become a Member of Honor of the "Divine Academie Française des Arts, Lettres et Culture", Paris / France.
