Ludo Lassalle
Ludo Lassalle is a contemporary French artist. At the age of 8, Ludo took a significant step towards nurturing his artistic passion by enrolling at the Calais School of Fine Arts. Over the course of 12 years, he diligently pursued extracurricular courses and rigorous academic training, honing his skills and deepening his understanding of art.
Yet, it was the graffiti-covered walls of his city that would forever leave an indelible mark on his painting. The vibrant and often underground urban art scene fascinated him, becoming a passionate pursuit. As he delved into the subculture of tags and graffiti, his art began to bear the signature of these bold expressions.
Embracing a nomadic lifestyle, Ludo roamed the city with his skateboard in tow, searching for new spots to express his creativity. The railway tracks, which he'd observed from his bedroom window, soon became his playground. He explored the urban artistic life not only in the Hauts de France region but also in neighboring Belgium and England, drawing inspiration from these diverse sources.
Experimentation was a hallmark of Ludo's artistic journey. He dabbled in various techniques, from collage to stencil, pushing the boundaries of his creativity. All the while, he continued his formal education at the Beaux-Arts to refine his technical prowess.
His exploration took him to the asphalt and walls of cities such as Paris, Marseille, London, Brussels, and even Amsterdam, where he left his distinctive artistic mark. As he sought new horizons, he eventually settled in Lille before returning to his roots in the Cévennes.
In this picturesque setting, Ludo's workshop, overlooking the railway tracks, expanded. His enthusiasm for painting continued to grow, and he ventured into various formats and supports, often favoring recycled materials that he could ingeniously repurpose. As he multiplied his artistic techniques, he brought his paintings to life on facades, roofs, streets, industrial wastelands, and the very landscapes he had once explored as a child.
Ludo's artistic vision was comprehensive, capturing the urban space from every conceivable angle. His works bore the marks of stains, drips, and paint chips, adding an authentic urban texture to his canvases.
