Deux échelles vertes suspendues dans le vide d’un papier noir.
Une portion importante du fond est peinte d’un orangé clair d’où se détachent des signes linéaires blancs qui forment à l’occasion des rectangles et qu’on peut retrouver sur l’ensemble de la surface.
Des carrés rouges animent quasiment toute la surface du tableau.
Un beau brouillard blanc opaque recouvre les extrémités des échelles.

Québécoise née Gaspésie, Louise Mauger habite en Estrie depuis 2009.
Elle a d’abord fait des études en Anthropologie (maîtrise, Université Laval), puis travaillé en Muséologie et en Recherche (Musée de la civilisation et autres). Elle a par la suite bifurqué vers la création visuelle — avec de fortes influences de l’anthropologie —, au fil de divers apprentissages, stages et cours en reliure, gravure, sérigraphie et collage.
Au fil des années, sa pratique artistique s’est investie dans la reliure d’art et le livre d’artiste où elle a acquis une solide réputation avec de multiples expositions individuelles et collectives, au Québec, en France, en Belgique et aux Etats-Unis. Tous les « décors » de ses reliures ont toujours été conçus comme des tableaux. Des tableaux qui ont un livre comme support et qui ont un lien avec le titre et / ou le contenu du livre, des tableaux qui occupent les plats et le dos des livres.
Durant la période de transition entre le reliure d’art et la peinture, Louise Mauger a réalisé une série de collages faits de matériaux dont elle se servait en reliure, comme des cuirs marins et des papiers artisanaux.
Depuis 2019, elle se consacre désormais exclusivement à la peinture.
