I was painting. I felt good, I had an idea of what I was doing, I enjoyed mixing the colors with the brush, I was feeling good about the image appearing on my paper. But suddenly, I couldn't continue. I didn't know anymore what I was doing and where it should bring me. I thought about different forms, I had several ideas, but none of those things were [...]

I was painting. I felt good, I had an idea of what I was doing, I enjoyed mixing the colors with the brush, I was feeling good about the image appearing on my paper... But suddenly, I couldn't continue. I didn't know anymore what I was doing and where it should bring me. I thought about different forms, I had several ideas, but none of those things were right for this painting. Something was missing but I didn't really know why. And then I thought, I have to paint the Holy Maria. I decided to draw her like she was when she appeared in Lourdes. And I thought, this is it. I think, I liked thje contrast between something something so ordinary like a pigeon and a miracle, an apparition. My life is everyday a mix of routine AND miracles... And that is what is so mysterious and wonderful about it. I need my routine, I like structure, but I'm always surprised. If I'm really attentive to those little things, miracles happen every day. It can be good or bad things. Things happen if we look at it.

Gouache

The substances are diluted with water and rendered pasty and opaque by the addition of gum and honey. The colors become opaque and can, therefore, be superimposed, which makes one paint with gouache as with oil. The gouache is recommended by its bright, fresh and delicate tones.

Laure Manière, born in 1985, is a versatile French artist living and working in Germany. Based in Cologne, she explores various artistic mediums, ranging from gouache and watercolor on paper to ink and digital [...]

After studying visual communication in Paris, where she graduated in 2008 at the École Estienne and the École Duperré, Laure decided to move to Germany. There, she pursued her passion for art while training in art therapy in Cologne, graduating in 2022. This dual skill set allows her to combine her love for artistic creation with her desire to work with people.

Her artistic influences are rich and varied, ranging from the expressive works of Käthe Kollwitz and Egon Schiele to the subtle illustrations of Klaus Ensikat and Félix Vallotton. She is also inspired by the contemporary painting of Lisa Yuskavage and the narrative style of Janosch, which is reflected in her intimate and emotional creations.

Laure Manière particularly enjoys drawing portraits and focusing on the simple and intimate moments of everyday life. Her art often addresses themes such as the challenges women face in society, motherhood, childhood, as well as faith and spirituality. Her works, deeply personal, are imbued with her own life experiences.
