Lilas Blano, a contemporary French artist of Circassian origin, was born in 1965. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Reims, she briefly worked in advertising and animated film in London, Montpellier, and Luxembourg before establishing her studio in Reims to dedicate herself entirely to painting.
Blano is known for her contemporary figurative style, which captures a mischievous and rebellious femininity. Her vibrant works feature women depicted in exuberant colors and shapes reminiscent of childhood cut-outs. Embracing spontaneity, she describes her creative process as welcoming "mistakes and twists" that bring richness and life to her compositions. Defined by carved outlines and enriched with geometric and floral patterns, her oil paintings seduce viewers with their extravagant grammar and playful freedom.
Evolving towards a new artistic expression, Blano now explores synthetic and geometric rhythms and novel color harmonies, creating modern symphonies where her female figures inhabit deconstructed, light-filled environments imbued with femininity.
Over her career, Blano has gone through distinct artistic periods and exhibited her works in galleries across France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States, and Luxembourg. Her instinctive and vibrant art has garnered an ever-growing audience. In May 2022, Womankind, an international art magazine, featured an article and interview, offering readers a glimpse into her unique artistic universe.
