Ley Mboramwe
Ley Mboramwe is a contemporary Congolese painter. Mboramwe's energetic bursts of lines and colors on canvas elicit a type of energy in the space that seeks to be noticed. His paintings have become a site of processing and meditation on his youth in the Congo and the terrain he has had to leave behind as he has both cherished and wrestled with his memories and experiences of the Congo and the adventures he has done afterwards. Mboramwe starts a dialogue on the adventures he's taken, which he expresses through his work, as well as the dynamics depicted through the use of abstraction in figurative imagery.
Ley Mboramwe was born in 1978, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he completed his degree in fine art at the Academie des Beaux – Arts. Mboramwe has established his artistic evolution from primary colors and monotones to huge spectrums of colors and vitality through his involvement in group exhibitions, art fairs, and solo exhibitions over the years. He lives and works in Cape Town.
