Middle East and North African "MENA" artist, whose works predominantly represent orientalist era in the arts of ancient Middle East, North Africa, Egypt and Turkey, depicting scenes of Arabian pictorial history in landscape and figurative style.
Fantasy of the Orient
Her paintings are a romantic fantasy of the Orient, populated with exotic rich sensual and colourful scenes of worlds beyond Europe, illustrating rug sellers, dancers, harems, turbaned men in luscious velvet cloaks, the alluring odalisques, women in luxurious clothing, jewelled slippers, silks and velvet gowns with beautiful beaded embellishment, dusty bazaars, souks, snake charmers, with traders in the bustling Arabic markets, selling their wares of beautiful orient trinkets, hookah, lush decorative fabrics, beautiful textiles in vibrant glowing shimmering colours of red, green, gold, blue, yellow and pink, lavish tapestry, beautiful Arabesque tiles, mosques and architecture to the golden sands of the hot desert and palm trees, an oasis set in a mysterious far away land.
About the Artist
English autodidactic painter, born in London, grew up in the 1960's Shoreditch, London.
Her artistic influence expanded and blossomed with the introduction of Orientalism in art in the early 1980's. Beautifully vibrant and lush, she populated a series of Middle East, Orientalist scenes in Watercolour by famous artists Giulio Rosati and Antonio Gargiullo.
By the late 1980's she developed her own style, painting more in oils extending her skills to commissioned work for friends, painting their favourite subjects. In the 1990's a window opened to assist at a local community Sunday art club at Napier Grove N1, run by artists for the local community, thus proving opportunity to interact with other artists an opportunity to network, show and exhibit her works at the club, with encouragement to show and sell her paintings to a wider audience.
Exhibitions and Selling
In the past a handful of paintings were shown in the gallery space at the Lion and Lamb, Hoxton, she exhibited a painting in the London Mall Gallery in the 1980's, but rarely participate in exhibitions, painting being secondary to her main professional career, nevertheless the Artist has successfully sold most of her works, as demonstrated by the steady sales of her paintings in the UK and Europe to private clients and galleries.
A collection of her paintings can be viewed at her portfolio on the Artmajeur Gallery website. Details about the Artist are documented on Wikipedia.
Some much earlier paintings bear the FAR branding with FAR tags. These were documented on the Fine Art Registry (FAR) until FAR abandoned hundreds of artists without warning, the site went down in 2012 with no recovery of digital images. Fortunately, most digital images were curated on the Artmajeur platform.

Beirut Crisis
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/r-lawrence6
I am raising funds in support of the devastating and catastrophic explosion which tore across the City of Beirut on 4th July 2020.
Approximately 137 killed and possibly more leaving with thousands injured. The explosion reported caused by 2,750 metric tons of ammonium nitrate, a toxic gas, which had been stored unsafely for six years in a warehouse.
The horrific explosions happened at the Capital's Port, which has led to a state of emergency. Around 300,00 are homeless and food stocks destroyed. The explosion destroyed several hospitals in the city, taking three out of service, and forced other hospitals to turn away patients, with some forced to treat patients in the street due to serve damage. At least 5 nurses died on Tuesday 4th July.
Before this tragic blast in Lebanon's capital on Tuesday, the country was already weak suffering an economic crisis, rolling blackouts and global Covid.19 pandemic.
About Lebanon
Lebanon has it scars from civil war during 1975 to 1990 but Tuesday's tragedy is one of the worst in Mankind.
One upon a time Lebanon was referred to as “Switzerland of the Middle East” before the civil war in the country. Today, the country is still enriched with social history and cultural memory however now it's people need our help.
Original oil Painting give-away raffle
In an attempt to raise some vital funding for the crisis in Beirut, I have decided to raffle one of my paintings of Beirut City
https://www.artmajeur.com/en/orientaliste/artworks/13464155/marina-de-beyrouth.
Those who would like to participate in the raffle please do let me have your details. Details of the winner will be updated here and on facebook, details to follow.
The first £1 will count as entry.
This is non-profit to me, I promise to be transparent regarding all monies donated and spent on the Lebanese disaster.
I'd be very grateful if you could help me reach my target of £1000, no matter how small.
Thank you for your kind support.
Crise de Beyrouth
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/r-lawrence6
https://www.artmajeur.com/en/orientaliste/artworks/13464155/marina-de-beyrouth

Pigeon Rocks Beirut - My Inspiration behind this Painting
Lebanon is the most beautiful country in Middle East. It’s landscape is idyllic and diverse and has the tallest mountains of the region, skiing resorts, large forests, green fields and beautiful seaside.
One interesting landmark in Raouche are the eye catching, Iconic pair of rocks known as Pigeons' Rock,
Raouché ( الروشة), is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in Beirut. The area is known for it’s upscale apartment buildings, various restaurants and cliff-side cafés which line Avenue de Paris and forms part of the Corniche Beirut.
Raouche is famous for it’s Pigeon Rocks, a 60-meter high offshore rock pair, which were formed in the prehistoric era by a geologic movement and been a feature of city life for more than 7,000 years. The rocks sit like gigantic sentinels on the Mediterranean sea coast, a beautiful spot, especially during sunset.
When I was young Lebanon was referred to as “Switzerland of the Middle East” before the civil war in the country. Today, the country is still enriched with social history and cultural memory.
Despite the country’s scars from civil war during 1975 to 1990, it still remains beautiful today, offering a scenic haven for Artists to capture it’s enchantingly beautiful landscapes as they did back in the 19th century.
But this much loved Mediterranean Middle Eastern jewel with it’s beautiful landmarks, I feel are still not widely recognised and appreciated which inspired me to show off the city’s beauty by exposing and painting this beautiful sparkling Mediterranean sunset scene of these iconic Raouche rocks on canvas to be enjoyed and shared worldwide. Entitled: The Iconic Pigeon Rocks Raouche, Beirut (2018).
Thank you.
The Artist.

TATE BRITAIN- BRITISH ORIENTALIST PAINTING 4 JUNE - 31 AUGUST 2008
Orientalist art is enjoying a critical reappraisal, which in London is expressed both by increased activity in the orientalist art market and by the forthcoming major exhibition at the London TATE gallery entitled "THE LURE OF THE EAST: British Orientalist Painting 1830-1925".
The exhibition opens on 4 June and run to the end of August 2008. It is organised in assosiation with the Yale Centre for British Art in the USA, which has the largest and most comphrensive collection of British art outside the UK. The exhibition first opened at the Yale Centre, in February and after its London run will travel in October to the Pera Museum, Instanbul, after which it will be transferred to the Sharjah Art Museum for the period between February and April 2009.
The exhibition is the first to survey the history of British painters' representations of the Middle East from 17th century to the early years of the 20th century. The heyday of Orientalist art was the 19th century, when steam engines were first used in travel, making it possible for artist to travel to the Middle East easily. They often reached their destination by way of Spain, Morocco, Greece and the Balkans.
There are more than 120 paintings, prints and drawings on show, lent by galleries and private collections around the worls, The exhibition features major artists such as William Holman Hunt, Lord Leighton John frederick Lewis and Richard Dadd.
