Ken Lerner
I am interested in the interplay of reality and imagination - how reality can trigger additional images in the imagination or how the imagination may produce variations of reality
Ken Lerner is a passionate photographic artist, born into a family of renowned photographers. He began taking photos at the age of 6, using a camera given to him by his father. But he was not interested in simply reproducing real life moments. His vision was more subjective and he sought to project an internal reality of that moment.
At the beginning of his career, he almost exclusively created images with multiple exposures. This gave a complex structure to the images and represented a subjective view of the world. In the 2010s, after working in financial product sales, he returned to photography producing only single exposure images. Even though they were less structurally complex, they still represented a subjective view of the world, being almost totally abstract. Ken works extensively with reflective surfaces such as water, glass and metal.
A lover of the beauty of nature, Ken Lerner paints and photographs a lot of landscapes and seascapes. He is interested in presenting different possibilities of representing "nature" and often produces many variations of an image with different colors, shades, contrasts and saturations.

Dear Ken, that's really great ! Greatings from Germany to NY ! Otto
Hi Otto - Thank-you so much. You are the first person to "get" this image. It's an older image (the original image is also up here (FOUNTAIN 140E1A - the one with the tan or beige background), but I have just recently reworked it to these new versions, which are the limited edition versions. I've always loved this image but since 2015, you are the first other person to remark on it or actually see it as interesting. Hope all is well in Munich - BTW - a long long time ago I lived in
Munich for 4 years, and Munich remains, with NY, tied for my favorite city in the world - when you have a chance, go have a drink for me at Cafe Reitschule, which I'm amazed to see is still there - probably hasn't changed very much either - I actually had a show of my artwork there once, and it was my favorite cafe in all Munich - It was so to speak, in my mind, the Max's Kansas City of Munich (Max's Kansas City was my favorite bar/restaurant/club that ever existed in NYC - Warhols entire crew hung out there all the time, Lou Reed got his start there and was a regular, so did the NY Dolls - and various later-to-be famous artists also hung out there - Cafe Reitschule was that for me in Munich - so next time you are in Schwabbing (maybe you already live in that district, or perhaps you never even go there, because it too "shicky-mickey", I don't know, but all I can say is it was a great place for me) go hoist a beer for me (and let me know if their deserts are still as good as they once were)
