Poet, writer, director, journalist, and visual artist
Kaunos Karya, born in Bursa, Turkey, began his artistic and journalism career in 2001 at the Doğan News Agency. His amateur street photography with an analog camera since 1998, along with his role as a darkroom technician during his internship at DHA, soon led him to work as a photojournalist in the field. He has won six internal awards for camera journalism within institutions.
In 2005, Karya transferred to the Anadolu Agency, where he worked until 2007. Moving to London in 2007, he contributed news to the London Olay Newspaper for Turks, wrote articles for the London-based Ada Life magazine, and continued his street photography. His poems written in London were published as a book in Turkey in 2009. At the end of that year, he returned to Turkey and settled in Istanbul, continuing his journalism career as a reporter, photojournalist, editor, and columnist for Dünya Gazetesi and Posta Gazetesi. In 2010, he decided to end his journalism career and focus on artistic and literary pursuits.
Since then, Kaunos Karya has authored numerous works as a short story and novel writer under various pseudonyms. In addition to collaborating with publishers and production companies, he has worked as a developmental and freelance editor. Known for his artistic identity, Karya has garnered attention with his digital paintings and photography, although he has never offered his works for sale except for one painting and two photographs exhibited in two different collective exhibitions. Living between Muğla and Istanbul since 2010, Karya continues his work as an editor, developmental editor, screenwriter, photographer, digital artist, art director, film director, assistant director for film and advertisements, and art gallery exhibition coordinator. His works continue to explore the complexities and beauties of modern life, pushing art into new dimensions with the opportunities provided by technology.
