Kat Gordon
Fear has no place in art. Passion and imagination need room to move.
Kat Gordon started painting at an early age. She is an award winning artist who studied under Kathleen Byrnes, Lane Stanley and Paula Allard, all well known RI artists and art teachers, who formed the bedrock of art clubs, galleries and instructional workshops.
Having moved on she studied at the Tonoff Gallery in Providence, R I. From there studied at the University of Rhode Island and the Community College of RI. She has since developed her art into what she calls the Planeism movement, using techniques beyond Cubism and Orphism movements to extend planes, create space and dimension using various media which include metal findings. The application of the paint varies from brushes, cloth and sponges to enhance contrast of etherial spaces and orbs, spheres and linear shapes. Many objects seem to project unseen plane lines beyond themselves.

To delve into color and line, balanced objects and plastering soul upon canvas, one finds the tiny path that leads to satisfaction and completion of an artwork. Where does that rise from? When is art complete? My art is born of a seed planted from beyond. Is there courage to go further? Dare I travel to the edge of failure only to find greatest victory? Planeism pulls me to the edge, extending planes that do exist into zones they don't belong. How exciting! Curves, circles, flat horizons that bend into eternity. Spatial dreams bursting, sailing, halting, bold lines that disappear only to reappear elsewhere. Planeism. Abstract Expressionism taken beyond Cubism to an unexplainable moot point. Divine.
