Karen Petty “the artist” was born at the age of 11 after being published in a national Horse Magazine called “The Appaloosa News.” Her #2 pencil was used for drawing horses instead of math and social study essays. Karen won several awards throughout her High School years. It was only after taking painting classes at a local Jr. College in Illinois that would change her life.
Karen attended the Art Institute of Chicago, studying under professional artists inspiring her to exhibit her works at local art shows throughout the Chicago area. Selected as a “rising new artist” by the jury representing the Art Institute of Chicago. The museum was now selling her paintings in the prestigious Sales and Rental Gallery. She was 23.
Invited to lecture at local High Schools, her exuberance and love of art stunned the students. Karen was an inspiration to the students, principals, and staff.

Karen has taken the female form to an even higher level, creating women in nature from a feminine perspective where it represents a spiritual world, exuding a powerful emotion of positive spirit.
