A young woman stands against the light in front of a veiled window.

Jean-Pierre André Leclercq is a contemporary French artist born in 1960 in the former Seine et Oise. Though drawing had always been a part of his life, he began painting in 2003, focusing on line and light before considering color.
After a period of self-taught exploration, Leclercq joined an art workshop in 2005 and attended a semester-long "live model" workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles in 2006. This experience revealed the human body, particularly the female form, as an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration. He also discovered a passion for dry pastel during this period.
In August 2008, Leclercq moved from Versailles to sunny Provence, where he continued to refine his focus on composition and light, predominantly featuring female figures. Since 2010, he has transitioned from dry pastels to oil painting on canvas. A course with Shane WOLF in July 2014 further affirmed his artistic direction.
Leclercq's work is now part of private collections in France, Europe, China, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. His accolades include being a finalist in the Salon de l'Art Renewal Center International Competition in 2012, 2013, and 2014, receiving the Audience Award at the Salon d'Automne in Pont Saint-Esprit in 2013, the Prix du Jury at the Salon du Réalisme in SOUAL in 2014, and 1st Prize for Painting at the 38th Salon International Artistique de Haute-Loire in Le Puy-en-Velay in 2017.
