Joanna Zakrzewska-Cholewa
Joanna Zakrzewska-Cholewa, a contemporary Polish sculptor, was born in 1976 in Rzeszów, Poland. She discovered her passion for art early, graduating from the local high school of art before pursuing formal studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 2001, she completed her studies with honors in the Faculty of Sculpture, under the mentorship of Professor Sękowski. During her studies, she also received an art scholarship in 1999 to study at Athens University, enriching her artistic perspective and skill.
Joanna is known for her mastery in bronze sculpture, using traditional hot-cast techniques to create handcrafted pieces from pure, heavy bronze. Her work has garnered both national and international attention, with exhibitions held across Poland, as well as in Denmark, Sweden, and Italy. In 2001, she received the Grand Prix in a competition under the patronage of Poland's Minister of Culture and National Heritage, marking a significant recognition of her talent. She continues to live and work in Cracow, dedicated to her craft and celebrated for her contributions to contemporary sculpture.
