Born in 1950, Jean Claude, known under the artistic name of Georges Sieurac, lives and works in France. A self-taught artist, he has always situated himself in a media economy, using a variety of materials to express his creativity. For his two-dimensional works, he favors Indian ink with pen on paper or mounted paper, and sometimes acrylic on canvas. Although he often colors his drawings with watercolor colors, they are not strictly speaking watercolors.
He particularly likes small formats and ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions and Originals). His ACEO "reprints" are printed in black and white then hand colored with watercolor, creating unique "false twins", similar but different. Jean Claude admits to being an agoraphobic of the medium, preferring reduced formats which offer him a more intimate and controllable creative space.
In three dimensions, Jean Claude works with clay, wood and metal, exploring different materials to bring his ideas to life. His eclectic approach pushes him to diversify his techniques, which, according to him, perhaps makes him less specialized but richer in artistic diversity.
Jean Claude also likes unwrapped packaging, a practice which is part of a long artistic tradition to which he pays homage while adding his personal touch. Although he recognizes that others have explored these avenues before him, he continues to tread them with a unique vision.
His artistic approach, anchored in an economy of means and a fascination for small formats, testifies to a constant search for new forms of expression. His works, whether in two or three dimensions, reveal a particular sensitivity and meticulous attention to detail.
