Jan Balch is an artist residing in the hamlet of York, Ontario. Jan has been interested in drawing and painting since childhood. With special emphasis on the human form, Jan has concentrated her portrayal of the spiritual side of her subjects in such mediums as watercolour, acrylics and graphite. Jan is sorting through her painting and drawing styles as she works and expresses herself through Art Worship. Jan enjoys this kind of expression because it is a freer way of putting an image onto a page. Her ability to envision a picture in her mind and make it appear on paper has been found to be prophetic and inspirational. Although Jan likes to draw and paint what she sees, she finds that type of painting to be expressionally binding. Her vision paintings tend to be more bold, have more movement and more colour. They also tend to be more amateur looking due to the lack of picture sourcing available to her at the time. Also noted for her landscapes and florals, Jan and her husband, Clare, can be found at her home studio gallery called "The Tea Garden Studio."
