Ivan Totev

I was born on 1-st August 1958 in Plovdiv (Ancient Philippopolis), Bulgaria. Influenced by the ruins from Philippopolis in my early years I developed an interest in Ancient cultures.The sculptural form of Greek Archaic, Assyrian, Ancient Egypt art as well as European Gothic and the idea of the "static standing figure" became an inspiration to me and something for which I tried to find a modern form.
Later on, travelling in Europe I could view the great masters such as Alexander Calder, Constantin Brankusi, Alexander Archipenko, Ossip Zadkine.

I have studied Fine Arts at Veliko Turnovo university in the course of professor Nenko Marov and graduated with master degree in sculpture and aesthetics.
In 2004 I became member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
