Ikori Song is a generation Z contemporary Chinese artist, currently living in Tokyo. The style of her artworks has undergone several changes, but keeping explores the Self-Awareness of this generation and its unique perspective of the world.
The works are influenced by her personal growth experience, with blurring the specificity of the characters, scenes or other elements in the work. She hopes that everyone of her ages can reveal their own reflection from it.
Caused by the procession of creation is also her thinking procession, uncertainty is within her works usually. And she never expect any answers from her works, but hoping they can make more people to keep curious. — “What they showed us seemed to be the truth. But what our generation is experiencing is whitewashed by all kinds of consumerism, and it seems that all contradictions and unexplained pains are dissolved in material abundance.”
Although she knows that her ordinary growth experience cannot support any grand narrative. So she is just trying to gain insight into the cause of the unexplained pain—what is the void in our mind of this generation? Stead of those serious and heavy as war years in history, this is what we are truly going through.
