Artists Profile
Art has always been a passion for me but due to personal circumstances I opted to leave school at 17 and pursue a travel career, hoping to return to my vocation as an artist a little later in life. This took another 40 years and now, I feel that I have at last fulfilled my dream of becoming a self-taught, professional artist.
My work has evolved through various mixed media techniques, from photo transfer, mixed water media, collage and encaustic art (an ancient form of painting with pigmented wax).
I love the challenges and excitement of experimenting with different mediums, changing the style to suit the subject and the effects that I want to create.
I have developed my style to interact with the viewer. I like to keep a sense of mystery within my paintings, for the interpretation to change with each viewer’s own imagination. In this way the painting will always be a source of creative visualisation, possibly changing over time within the viewer’s own thought process.

Finalist in the Aesthetica Creative Review Annual 2009
Media Information
Local Artist Beats off Competition from Thousands to be Published in the Inaugural Aesthetica Annual
Local artist Helen Kaminsky has been named one of only 40 finalists in the first ever Aesthetica Creative Works Competition.
Aesthetica Magazine is a British-based arts publication with bi-monthly issues covering art, literature, film, music and theatre. Established in 2002 Aesthetica has grown to be sold throughout WH Smiths, Borders and university bookshops nationwide and, in March 2008 the company added a second publication to its fold, the Aesthetica Annual.
The first Aesthetica Annual is available through Borders stores nationwide and will showcase the very best in new artistic and writing talent. The Annual has been comprised of the winning entries of the Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition, which received an astounding five thousand entries up until its closing date in August 2008.
Aesthetica editor, Cherie Federico has seen the Aesthetica Competition grow exponentially since its conception in early March: “It’s been amazing to see the response to the Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition among writers and artists, and it’s great to see there is so much enthusiasm for creativity, not only in the UK but around the world. I started the competition to provide an outlet for all the budding artistic and writing talents who would contact me on a daily basis. I saw so many amazing pieces of work that the creation of a special Annual seemed inevitable, but it has been surprising to see just how far the competition reached.”
Competition entries were submitted from an array of countries as eclectic as South Africa and Japan, Brazil and Bulgaria, providing the opportunity for international artists to have real exposure in British stores, and Helen Kaminsky is about to enjoy this exposure having won her place among only 97 overall finalists.

5th in a series of exhibitions Catch by the Eye Save in the Heart
I'm delighted to announce a 5th exhibition in the series, taking place at the amazing Gallery located in Covent
Garden between 02-08 June 2009
The highly elegant 3 Bedfordbury Gallery is just a stone's throw from Leicester Square and Covent Garden
tube stations
The concept of "CATCH BY THE EYE SAVE IN THE HEART" was created by Magdalena Rutkowska (a
professional artist living and working in London) in 2004. The first exhibition took place at Menier Gallery -
London Bridge followed by second one in Warsaw in the same year, then Mayfair and Belgravia-London. By contacting independent artists, she created a group of talented professional people who
were happy to show their work to the public, but the main idea of the project was not only to show work
already done by the artists, but also to awaken the hidden artistic talent in the souls of our visitors, who are
always encouraged to express themselves at Catch exhibitions on the canvases provided along with the paints
and brushes. These pictures showing a unique reflection of the moods of people in different countries and
varying parts of the city of London and are worth coming to see on their own. Together with the professional
exhibitors Magdalena draws around her, every Catch exhibition reveals its own unique reflection of the times
in which we live. Who knows what our current global mood, of introspection, fear, trepidation and the first
tremblings of courage
It is worth it to have sneak preview on some of the features artists like :Magdalena Rutkowska, Anjali
D'souza, Jenny Mohsen, Chrissie Hammond, Helen Kaminsky, Wiebke Dryer, Melinda McCarthy,
Michael John Griffiths, Andrew Binkowsky , Tashi Khan and others ..by visiting the virtual gallery at
gallery/ This is a very exciting time to be taking the concept to a highly exclusive and busy location
Another Magdalena's project is a major international art competition Arte Laguna 2009
Magdalena along with the other members of Eclusier are proud to support this project by providing one of the
prizes for a carefully selected winner.
They warmly invites everyone from all ages and backgrounds to take part and enjoy this unique opportunity to
win amazing prizes.
The competition, the fourth to be launched, will stand out as a major multicultural event in Europe in 2009.
Details will be published on

Encaustic Painting Techniques
Encaustic art is one of the oldest forms of painting and was widely practised throughout the ancient world.
I have developed an original technique using this medium to produce paintngs and greeting cards. The individual designs have evolved through experiements with wax and organic matter. Flower parts and leaf shapes are delicately trapped and preserved within layers of pigmented wax, producing abstract forms that are then embellished using mixed media techniques. The resulting artworks evoke an ethereal quality, with each one creating a totally unique image.
