Haykuhi Khachatryan is a contemporary impressionistic fine art painter from Armenia, currently living and working in the picturesque town of Dilijan. Her interest in painting began in her early childhood, sparked by her deep fascination with the vibrant spirit and mystery of Armenian nature. The vivid landscapes of Armenia — its earth, sky, clouds, mountains, water, and flowers — have profoundly influenced her artistic vision, leading her to bring these scenes to life through contrasting and harmonious colors and bold compositions.
In her early artistic period, Khachatryan honed her techniques by visiting the art galleries of well-established Armenian artists and delving into the rich literature on art. Her journey through various styles and mediums eventually led her to the impressionistic style, deeply inspired by the works of iconic artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin, Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne. Exposure to the exhibitions of renowned museums worldwide, including the Musée d’Orsay, the Louvre, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Van Gogh Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, also significantly influenced her unique artistic approach.
Today, Khachatryan primarily uses oil on canvas, working with a palette knife to achieve a rich and natural color palette. Her extensive mastery of color theory, combined with her innate sense of rhythm and composition, imbues her paintings with a distinct vibrancy. The creative process for Khachatryan is often a mysterious phenomenon; she is sometimes inspired by new places she visits, which later materialize on her canvas. At other times, she creates images in her mind that do not exist in reality.
Khachatryan believes that each of her paintings contains a massive amount of energy and empowerment. She mainly uses bright and vivid colors to convey a sense of immediacy, harmony, and optimism to viewers. Her artworks have found homes in numerous private art collections across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Russia, Australia, Bahrain, China, Taiwan, and other parts of the world. She has been invited to and participated in workshops at KKV in Sweden and holds an official certificate from the prestigious Luxembourg Art Prize. Her works have been exhibited in both group and solo exhibitions in Armenia, Europe, and the USA.
