Amplitude (2013) Painting by Goss

Author of many murals, GOSS has kept the clear gaze of beings in love with infinity. Installed in an old school, in Beauregard in the Quercy, he brings out the dream of his brushes. Seemingly unaffected by the wounds of time, which for him is only a form of illusion, this prodigious painter retained the soul of a child until he was about fifty. No doubt this is the secret of his art and his vigour. From oil on canvas, he can easily move on to mural painting. This is how he produced huge frescoes for castles or prestigious residences.
The universe of GOSS is movingly pure. It relates to the marvellous, to images saved from childhood, to the strange and vaporous atmosphere of tales, drawing from the sources of nature the transcended light of dreams. Time has changed his style to make it evolve towards a dreamlike world, close to the fantastic. At GOSS, we find themes dear to romantic painters. Nature and women are for him a subject of wonder. It is the whisper of infinity. This smooth and "licked" touch gives a particular softness to his paintings which overflow with poetry. Trees occupy an important place in his paintings and the ephemeral flirts with the eternal. One could almost speak of mysticism if this word were not hackneyed by the aspirants of the new age.
