Gaëtan Nightbird is a recognized Photo-Plastician. Through his photographs, he shows a real explosion of colors and shapes. His work looks at both solid and liquid matter, which he then mixes together to make an abstract picture. "It's a big look at how the substance came to be." Drawing his inspiration from plant photograms, we can also read the influence of Man Ray, Mario Giacomelli, Berenice Abbott, Pierre Soulages.

He also uses living things, like fruit or vegetables that he slices very thinly to make them transparent. Then, he puts them between two large glass plates to make them look different and change their shape. He often adds other liquids and dyes to his work.

Gaëtan Nightbird was born in Paris (France) in 1981. Then, when he was 16, he learned about the history of film photography with his father and in his darkroom. He became interested in photography. He learned how to take pictures at the EFET School of Photography. He is a big fan of black and white photography, and he spends a lot of time working with the photogram technique.
