Frank Melech is a photographer from Germany who combines digital art with photography. His images straddle the line between reality, the strange, and the fantastic. Absurdity meets the familiar, and psychological depth meets whimsy. The observer is transported in unfamiliar graphic worlds, where natural principles must yield to the imagination.
He has been working with digital picture collage for over 20 years as an artistic medium. Real set pieces, purposely or accidentally captured in the "real world" (Nature, Architecture, Animal & Human) are always the starting point for the work. He creates pictorial spaces on the computer in the style of Caspar David Friedrich or the Surrealists around Max Ernst, which are full of distinctive pictorial innovations and philosophical allusions. He devotes special attention to a color culture based on the grandeur of the "ancient masters" and conveying a sense of timelessness.
