Francesco D'Adamo
Francesco D'Adamo is a contemporary Italian painter. D'Adamo's enchantment with the world of art began during his formative years when he embarked on a journey of discovery through private painting lessons. These early encounters with the world of colors, shapes, and creative expression served as a mere glimpse into his burgeoning talent. It was only in 2006, when he relocated to the vibrant city of Bologna, that painting reemerged in his life as a profound and unyielding force, eventually becoming the central pillar of his existence.
The ensuing years bore witness to the blossoming of D'Adamo's artistic career. He held his inaugural exhibitions in Bologna, captivating the local art scene with his mesmerizing works. Eager to share his art with a global audience, D'Adamo ventured to various art fairs and events across Europe and Asia. His distinctive style and unique perspective soon garnered the attention of collectors and art enthusiasts from every corner of the world.
A defining moment in his artistic journey occurred with the unveiling of his prominent solo exhibitions. In 2017, the world was introduced to "Chimere," a collection that showcased his profound creativity. The following year, "Discanto" (2018) continued to captivate audiences with its innovative approach to visual storytelling. The pinnacle of D'Adamo's early career came in 2019 when he took his talents to Hong Kong for the groundbreaking solo exhibition "Dyssomnia." This international exposure solidified his status as a global artist of note.
D'Adamo's artistic pursuits are deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Italian informalism and American abstract expressionism. His work is a harmonious fusion of visual and musical language, where the sign and its rhythm converge to create a profound dialogue on the canvas. Layered surfaces, a vibrant palette, and a mastery of diverse techniques all intertwine to form a lyrical, yet profoundly grounded imagery.

With the first works presented in September 2024, the Incanti represent an attempt to bring together all the elements of D'Adamo's painting research, continuing this path in search of new visual solutions. In Incanti we find the complexity and layering of the image that characterizes his works, combined with the musicality of the gesture, the juxtaposition of a strong palette with neutral, almost mural-like spaces, a stroke now disruptive now intimate and diaristic, calligraphic. The outcome is an image in constant motion, as if shaken by an subterranean wind, suspended on the canvas as if still to be fulfilled before our eyes, or ready to vanish into the mists from which it arose, vital and never resigned. The Incanti ask to be open to the complexity and dialogue of the parts, to dig deeper without losing lightness, to find a balance in shapes without flattening and simplifying.

Presented in mid-2022, Icastici collects the legacy of the Chimere, Imago and Manifesti series continuing their visual research and pushing it towards more silent and rarefied atmospheres where shapes and structures now seems completely dissolved and the sign re-emerges, now painted, now carved or scratched, to narrate on nebulous fields its new becoming.

The path undertaken years ago with the Chimere and Imago series evolves and continues in these new works. The Manifesti cycle proposes mysterious images with a strong evocative and lyrical impact, where the sign becomes even more distinct and musical, the structures open and fall apart while large layers of color outline the entire composition, constantly suspended in a delicate equilibrium.

"New Consonances" series concluded
After 2 years and 43 paintings the “New Consonances” series has come to an end. Between Prima Consonanza and Segovia (the first and last work in the collection, respectively) there have been numerous transformations and as is fortunately often the case the canvases have suggested new paths that deserve to be further explored.
The New Consonances have to be credited for reintroducing forms, structures and hues into my work that I had long since lost. A certain misty, intimistic atmosphere that characterized past years has found in the N.C. a way to reconnect with the noise of the world beyond the easel, and a sense of curiosity has undermined the nostalgic halos of the earlier paintings. This will be explored further, along with other aspects, in the future “Lost and Found” works.

Quand je vois vos toiles, je ressens cette énergie pleine d'effervescence, d'impatience, et d'envie qu'il y a avant un grand évènement. La joie d'être ensemble, là. Belle continuation Francesco.
