This artwork, ablaze with expressive energy and dynamic texture, is an arresting portrayal of abstract portraiture. The piece eschews realism in favor of layered, impasto strokes that give the impression of a human face, invested with a richness of emotion and introspection. The individual's visage is created through bold, decisive applications of paint, offering a striking immediacy and tangible texture. Dominating the upper portion of the canvas, a melange of creamy whites and ochres form the subject's hair, with deliberate strokes that suggest movement and vitality. This contrasts sharply with the cool, tranquil blue that makes up part of the face, lending a unique duality to the composition. This blue not only juxtaposes the warmth above but also injects an enigmatic quality into the portrait. The features of the face are rendered through a series of broad, confident strokes. The eyes, nearly obscured, seem introspective and serene, contributing to the contemplative mood of the piece. The nose is starkly rendered in a combination of creamy and dark hues, grounding the composition centrally. The lips, painted in a vivid, almost aggressive red, draw immediate attention, signalling a focal point of passion amidst the subdued palette elsewhere. On closer inspection, the tactile quality of the medium is unmistakable. The luscious, palpable texture of the paint invites the viewer to experience the work not just visually, but almost physically, feeling the ridges and valleys that conjure the face. This tactility is a testament to the artist's deliberate and assertive technique, emphasizing the materiality of paint as much as the subject it represents. In sum, this artwork is an embodiment of modern expressionistic portraiture, expertly balancing abstraction and recognizable form. Its vigorous application of color, compelling use of texture, and striking emotive presence collectively make for a captivating and profound visual experience.

(…) My interests so far include man, his psychology, his condition in the modern world. What matters to me in paintings is color, gesture and movement. I paint quickly with one brushstroke, there is  a lot of emotions and improvisation in this process, no sketch, no plan, just one move here and now.
